one step at a time

i am a little walker now. i started walking a few months ago, but just this month i have decided to take off. i hardly ever crawl anymore. mom thinks it's so cute to see little ol' me walking (and sometimes trying to run) around the house, following her around every corner.

my new favorite things to do are:
• blow zerberts at anyone i please
• put on dad's t-shirts and mom's headbands
• i love to growl!
• i also love to put on all of mom's big chunky bracelets
• climbing onto chairs and couches

it's fun being me! i get to play all day, people (i mean mom) dress me, bathe me, change my stinky diapers, feed me. geez i don't ever want to grow up...and i don't think mom and dad want me to either :)

the cat & the mouse

we had a fun halloween this year. i think little A had a lot to do with it. she begged and pleaded with me to be minnie mouse this year {haha} so i gave in. my mom {the master seamstress} made her cute dress with adorable matching purse and i found the ears at the disney store. i dressed up as a black cat and for one of our parties neil dressed up as an army man {or whatever}.

when the car ran out of candy at the trunk or treating, neil thought it would be funny to put little A in the bowl for the next trick or treaters...unfortunately she didn't think it was that funny...

hope you all had a great halloween! until next year...

pumpkin patch!

we went to the pumpkin patch today with cousins blake, tanner and mia. we had a fun time searching for pumpkins and taking pictures. i found a perfect little white pumpkin to add to my collection. i think i might go for the painting this year instead of carving...anyone ever done that? here are a few of the cute pictures i got at the patch...

celebrating one year at disneyland

my little sweety is one year old. we took a little family vacation to disneyland with neil's parents and sister. my sis met us there too, of course. she took this great picture of little A in front of the sleeping beauty castle. perfect!

we had a little party with family for her, so i made a little invitation.

i made a princess carriage cake for my little princess. old school style like i use to have growing up with the little flower frosting drops. love that.

little A devouring her birthday cake. she loves to squish food in her hands.

disneyland was a blast. i have a slight obsession with taking pictures with the characters...so pretty much all of our pictures are with a new friend :) disneyland was decorated for halloween which is my fave...well i love when they do christmas too, but halloween is just as great in my book. my highlight was the haunted mansion. the nightmare before christmas theme is way better than the original mansion (sorry original lovers). love me some jack!

i know A won't remember going to disneyland at such a young age, but to be quite honest I went more for me than anyone else! hehe

some more crafty things

It's amazing what a little modge podge will do. This first project was an idea from the blogging world called heritage blocks. Just 2x4's, photoshop and modge podge and there ya go. I took photos from my ancestors and wrote a little snippet of something interesting in their life and added a few heritage quotes found on the internet. Neil says he doesn't like looking at pictures of old men on the bar, but I think it adds a little history to the room. Thought they'd be good props for my family history classes that I'm going to start teaching soon, too.

Just felt like doing some Halloween projects. Nothing fancy, just scrapbook paper, a wood frame from michael's and yep...modge podge.

These are just letters from Walmart and some Halloween scrapbook paper...

Stay tuned, I have some more ideas burning in my brain....hope to do them soon.

corn huskers

this month we got together with family for the celebration of audrey's new cousin mia's blessing. audrey (officially nicknamed audie by her cousin ella) had a lot of fun husking corn with grandma and cousins. ok so she actually just ate the corn and screamed in excitement the whole time...

here are a few audie updates (especially for my dad who requests them each time we talk...)
• no longer does her army crawl, it was so cute.
• loves to empty out any and all drawers and cupboards within reach (yes we bought the locks but have yet to put them on)
• can not resist remote controls and i think actually broke our dvd control with her constant slobber. (so much for "repeat play" on baby einstein)
• has a slight obsession with books...open and close, open and close
• is officially dubbed a dinner scavenger. yes she eats all her dinner, then proceeds to beg for bits and pieces of ours. you'd think i wasn't feeding the kid.
• has taken a few steps but has yet to officially walk on her own...getting very close though. is that a good thing or a bad thing i have yet to decide.

i did a crafty thing!

i go through stages where i love to do crafty things with my hands instead of with the mouse. for enrichment (a churchy thing) we did craft night. i made a picture wall board (is that what they're called?). i originally wanted a really soft pink fabric with white damask print but could find it nowhere...except online for a ridiculous price. so i ended with a soft pink with faded white dots. i think it turned out cute so i hung it on audrey's wall and put some pictures on it to finish it up. i'm determined now to figure my sewing machine out (mom, keep your phone handy). crafty fall here i come...

my little big girl

audrey is cruising straight for one year old and i can't believe it. we met her new cousin mia a few weeks ago and holding a newborn again made me realize audrey's my little big girl! here are some updates:

• weighs a whopping 15 lbs 5 oz (she's only in the 5th %)
• gives kisses (when she's in the mood, most of the time she'll turn her head in denial)
• still crawling (both ways but prefers her signature army crawl because it's faster)
• pulling up on just about anything that is stable (especially mommy's legs when she's doing dishes)
• loves to dance when daddy plays the guitar
• always has A LOT to say even though no one can understand it (besides a select few words)
• is constantly getting into mischief (i've been redecorating for months now)
• puts just about everything in her mouth for trial and error (and now has 6 teeth and they are daggers!)
